Pub Visit - Germany

landbierparadeis 1 buildingSunday 23rd May 2010

Bob Thompson

This pub is a branch of a small chain that is to be found in and around the city. They have a very simple concept in that they are loyal to the small village breweries of Franconia (Franken), this part of Bavaria (Bayern). In fact the title translates as Country Beer Paradise.landbierparadeis 2 wooden cask

There is always a large number of bottled beer of many styles but the feature that I like most is their draught beer. From a wooden cask there is always something worth having from a small producer. In this case was Landbier-Hell (5.0%) from the Staffelberg Brewery of Loffeld, and very nice it was too. As soon as one cask is finished, another is put on.

The décor is rustic, a bit "log cabin", but you don't come here for luxury. The beer is backed up by solid Franconian cooking. A great little pub!
